about

Not a song at all. Its really a place to live

lyrics

I went out drinkin’ with a sailor
I asked him where he been
I went out lovin’ with a lady
Would she let me in to her heart

He said she left when he was younger
And couldn’t recall quite when
She said she knew him as an orphan
And taught him he would be her lord and master

He cleared the land they both were needing
And built himself a barn
Bathe in waters from the mountain
And keep the family warm from the cold

Animals graze in a green field
Soft clouds against the sky
Evening calls me to my lover
And all my reasons why just slip away

But time forgets this land we’ve come from
And we call this place our home
The storm she gathers on the mountain
The outlaw sings his song “it won’t be long”

I took to walkin’ across a valley
You can see faces often chance
Snow lifted her wing and now surrounds me
This pageant is her veil and I’m the same

I built a fire and I’ve been waiting
For this night to pass away
My face is burning my back is freezing
And turning only turns my trouble around

It’s a sailor song
